SelfMap is a mobile personality quiz game developed and published by Bemedyze. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, used, and shared when you use SelfMap.

1 Information We Collect

SelfMap does not require you to create an account. We do not directly collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or precise location data.

The following types of data may be collected or processed when you use SelfMap:

  • Gameplay data (local): Your answers to personality questions, unlocked cards, in-game progress, settings, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
  • Leaderboard data (server): If you participate in the global leaderboard, your score and a display identifier (such as a chosen in-game name) are sent to our servers to display rankings. No account registration is required for this feature.
  • Advertising data: Our advertising partners may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, and usage signals as described in Section 2.
Note on personality answers: Your answers to in-game personality questions are used solely to calculate and display your personal results within the app. They are stored locally on your device and are not sent to our servers unless you explicitly use a server-dependent feature such as the leaderboard.

2 Advertising

SelfMap displays ads to support free access to the game. The game uses rewarded ads and banner ads. Rewarded ads are optional and grant in-game benefits when watched.

We use the following third-party advertising services:

  • Google AdMob
  • Unity Ads (used as a secondary fallback provider)

These services may collect and process information such as device identifiers, advertising ID, IP address, app activity, ad views, ad interactions, device information, and approximate location derived from network data. This data may be used to deliver, limit, measure, and personalize ads, detect fraud, and improve advertising services.

3 Leaderboard and Server Communication

SelfMap includes an optional global leaderboard feature. When you submit a score to the leaderboard, your score and the display name you have chosen within the game are transmitted to our servers hosted at bemedyze.com.

We do not link leaderboard submissions to any personal account, email address, or real identity. The display name is chosen by you within the game and does not need to be your real name.

Leaderboard data is processed and stored in a PostgreSQL database on a secure server. We retain leaderboard entries as long as the game service is active. You may contact us to request removal of your leaderboard entry.

4 Consent and Privacy Choices

For users in regions where consent is required — such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland — SelfMap uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising consent before any personalized ads are displayed.

You may update your consent preferences at any time from the in-game settings or privacy options screen where available.

You can also limit ad personalization from your device settings:

  • Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads
    The exact path may vary depending on your Android version and device manufacturer.

5 How We Use Information

Information is used to:

  • Provide and improve the game experience
  • Calculate and display personality results
  • Save game progress, unlocked cards, and preferences locally
  • Operate the global leaderboard feature
  • Show rewarded and banner ads
  • Measure ad performance and detect fraud
  • Comply with legal and platform requirements

6 Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information.

Leaderboard data (score and chosen display name) is stored on our servers and displayed publicly within the game to all players as part of the leaderboard feature.

Advertising data may be processed by third-party partners — Google AdMob and Unity Ads — according to their own privacy policies and advertising technologies.

We do not share your data with any other third parties except as required by law.

7 Children's Privacy

SelfMap is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has submitted information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action to remove the information.

8 Data Retention

  • Local data (answers, progress, settings) remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the game.
  • Leaderboard data is retained on our servers for the duration of the game service. You may request deletion by contacting us.
  • Advertising data is retained by our advertising partners according to their own policies.

9 Security

Our servers use HTTPS (TLS 1.2/1.3) encryption for all data transmission. Server-side data is stored in a password-protected PostgreSQL database on a secured Linux server. We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information we handle.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
